Create a Permit from a Work Pack

Status: Request Request → Awaiting Validation Awaiting Validation

TO BE CONFIRMED — Entry point and full behaviour. A Work Pack permit is created from the Work Pack module, not from the PTW create menu (confirmed: the "+ New" menu shows only Permit to Work / Routine / Questionnaire). The exact navigation and the complete field/edit rules belong to the Work Pack module (module 6). Source needed: Work Pack swimlane / FDD Work Pack section / UAT capture.

Create a permit that is linked to a Work Pack, so that it is planned and issued within that pack.

When to use

Use this task when the work is organised under a Work Pack and the permit must be tied to it.

Before you start — check before launching the task
  • You hold the Permit Requester role.
  • The Work Pack exists and the permit needs to be attached to it.

Step-by-step

  1. From the Work Pack, create the linked permit. (exact steps — TO BE CONFIRMED)
  2. Complete the general information and risk assessment as for a new permit (see Create a New Permit to Work). While in Request, permit fields attached to a Work Pack are editable by the Permit Requester, the Operating Authority and the RSES (not the Permit Requester alone).
  3. Sign the request to submit the permit for validation. Note for later: the permit can only be issued once its Work Pack is in the Active state (see Issue a Permit).

Expected result

The permit moves from Request to Awaiting Validation, linked to its Work Pack. The next task is Validate a Permit.

Key Referentiel rules

  1. A permit to work is based on a risk analysis reflecting the actual work — being part of a Work Pack does not change this. (CR-GR-HSE-402, Req 3.2.1)
  2. Coordination of multiple permits in a zone and the related SIMOPS/co-activity risks must be taken into account. (CR-GR-HSE-402, Req 3.4.1)
  3. Reuse / packaging does not remove the need to check current conditions. (CR-GR-HSE-402, Req 3.2.1)

Tips & pitfalls

Tip — the Work Pack must be Active to issue. Plan the pack's state so the permit can be issued when needed.

Pitfall — assuming only the requester edits the permit. In a Work Pack, OA and RSES can also edit fields in Request; coordinate changes.

Common mistakes

Mistake Consequence
Trying to issue while the Work Pack is not Active Issue blocked
Uncoordinated edits by PR/OA/RSES in Request Conflicting changes; confusion
